Star Cinema Opens Doors for Incoming Senior College Students in the First “Movie Concept Development Workshop” This Summer 2011

Quezon City, MM – 26 January 2011 – Just when you think of bringing your academic experience on filming to the real reel deal, the country’s undisputed top film outfit gives you, college students, this extraordinary opportunity to gain holistic working experience in the wonderful cinema industry.
ABS-CBN Film Productions, Inc. (Star Cinema), the country’s leading film company, is opening its doors to all incoming 4th Year college students to join its first-ever Movie Concept Development Workshop. A two-month long summer training program, it will start on April 4 (Monday) and will end on June 3 (Friday). (Seminar for free, limited slots only, once in a lifetime opportunity)

The training will cover a complete real-life experience working in film industry, which includes basics of story scouting & research, story development & writing, opportunity to brainstorm with Star Cinema personnel on various ongoing & future projects and to pitch approved concepts to the Management for approval. What’s more, there will also be lots of chances to be working with the best & finest directors, producers, scriptwriters, and actors in actual production, post-production, and promotions endeavors of the projects!
Shortlisted students will be given a considerable amount of training allowance and a separate research pocket money for the entire workshop duration. Moreover, students who participate in this program can have it credited in their internship/practicum.
Interested students will have to send the following:
•Updated two-page resume with photo
•An original movie storyline (any genre, either in English or Filipino)
•An essay on the topic “My Favorite Movie” (either in English of Filipino)
•Latest original or certified true copy of Transcript of Records
omust be sealed and delivered either though airmail or personal hand carry to Star Cinema office/ Star Cinema HR representative in the Star Cinema booths during job fairs

•Number of pages: maximum of 2 pages only
Be the best that you can be, for only 35 students will qualify for an interview with the Creative Managers and Creative Associates/Assistants in the Star Cinema office. And, among those 35 students, only 20 will make it to the final roster of participants.

Application will start today and will end on February 25 (Friday). All submitted materials will be thoroughly reviewed and screened. After due consideration and deliberation of shortlisted students, the final 20 participants will be announced a week before the actual workshop.
